How to Tell Chinese Stories in English

Telling Chinese stories in English is actually rather difficult. We all know that Chinese language and traditions are very different from western countries. So using the right words to express Chinese thoughts or sayings are always challenging. 

From my point of view, we don't have to use rare or unfamiliar words to tell the story especially those ancient ones. Those words could not provide a better undersatnding but on the contrary, made the story less interesting or attractive. We should write or tell the story in ordinary and common English. We can use initials or nicknames for those complicated Chinese names especially about the gods and fairies. If we want to express timeline of any ancient story, we can put A.D.(Anno Domini) or B.C. (Before Christ) after the years to make it easier to understand.

In short, just write or tell the story as easy and simple as possible. Never ever expected our western friends to be able to understand the Chinese tradition by reading or listening to a couple Chinese stories.
